GreenShape is a nationally recognized green building and sustainability consulting firm based in Washington, DC. Responsibilities
As a GreenShape Energy Specialist you will work on multiple public- and private-sector projects including commercial office buildings, schools, multi-unit residential and mixed-use projects, building modernizations, and neighborhood development projects. You will collect data and perform energy model simulations using contract documents prepared by the project Architect and Engineer.
You will draft reports communicating the findings of energy modeling software, make recommendations for improved energy performance and complete associated LEED documentation. You will attend project meetings and manage client interactions to support energy-related decision making on GreenShape projects.
In order to develop a broad perspective on systems integration as part of a whole-building strategy, you will also manage a small portfolio of green building projects. In this capacity you will guide building development teams in applying green building concepts and technologies to their work, manage client communications, support our clients as they create drawings and specifications incorporating green building strategies, advise our clients' construction teams on LEED-related activities and manage the documentation of green building accomplishments.
Requirements
Green building is booming, and GreenShape LLC is seeking an engineering professional with inter-disciplinary skills and 5-10 years of related experience to support its growing green building consulting practice. The ideal candidate will have experience designing energy systems, performing iterative energy models for a variety of building types, analyzing results, and presenting recommendations to clients orally and through written reports.
The candidate should be proficient with energy modeling software such as Trace 700, Energy Plus, eQuest, Visual DOE, etc. The candidate should also be familiar with the LEED Green Building Rating Systems, particularly as they pertain to building energy use. Experience evaluating energy systems in existing buildings and making recommendations for fine tuning and replacement would be beneficial.
We are seeking a versatile, team-oriented person who is comfortable working with minimal supervision in a small office environment. Strong professional skills and the ability to maintain a positive, flexible attitude, manage large amounts of data; and work with current computer technology are essential. This position also requires excellent communication, research and writing skills and the ability to facilitate meetings and create and deliver presentations.
