Description

The city of Phoenix has a long-standing commitment to resource conservation and has been an active participant in energy conservation, energy efficiency and environmental preservation since the early 1980s.

Position Overview:

Incumbent serves as project leader in the design, review, monitoring and reporting of energy-related projects, including building renovations, new construction, testing and inspection for conformance to local codes, and annual energy audits of existing systems and facilities. Typical projects involve heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting systems, building control systems, energy consumption monitoring systems and solar (photovoltaic) arrays.

Works closely with consultants, contractors, utilities and other city, state and federal government entities to identify, propose, evaluate, authorize, implement and report on energy projects.  This position serves in a leadership capacity, with supervisory responsibilities over professional and technical staff, working closely with contractors and consultants.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in the practice of energy engineering work and a bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, OR
  • 2 years of experience in energy engineering and a related engineering degree.
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

The job requirements listed above, plus:

  • Management and supervisory experience with professional and technical staff
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, local regulations and incentive programs
  • Established working relationships with local consultants, contractors, utilities and city, state and federal entities
  • Successful leadership experience developing and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, consultants, contractors and customers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification

Compensation: $53,851.00 - $80,434.00 (Yearly Salary)
