Rethinking Power Management (RPM) is a start-up energy management consultancy in the Boston area. We help commercial and industrial clients turn an interest in improving energy performance into meaningful, measurable results that directly support their corporate objectives.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a full-time energy engineer to join our company. The successful candidate will be well-rounded and motivated. Someone who is passionate about the environment and who is interested in a start-up opportunity. The focus of this position is to work with clients to develop and execute strategic energy and water reduction plans. These plans often incorporate a combination of efficiency and operational improvements, load management, and/or on-site renewable energy solutions. This person will also be an integral part of the business development team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site evaluations to identify efficiency opportunities at client facilities.
  • Work with the RPM management team to develop customer-specific strategic plans.
  • Work with clients’ senior management team to generate and communicate measurable results.
  • Coordinate projects between clients, outside vendors and efficiency program providers.
  • Work with RPM's business development team to seek out and engage new clients.
  • Effective communication skills are essential to this position and are required.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in engineering, computer science or other related technical fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in energy consulting or other related field.
  • CEM preferred but not required.
  • Desire to take on new challenges and learn new technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High degree of professionalism and trustworthiness.
  • Outstanding collaboration, communication and customer skills.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up are essential.
  • Ability to travel locally as needed.

Familiarity with one or more of the following is also requested:

  • Lighting.
  • HVAC systems and controls.
  • Motors/drives.
  • Refrigeration systems.
  • Building automation and control systems.
  • Power quality and reliability improvements.
  • Utility rate structures and efficiency programs in the New England region.
  • Solar PV, solar thermal, wind, CHP other on-site generation technologies.
  • Building modeling.
