Energy Engineer

Responsibilities: 

• Oversees Energy Conservation Management Unit;
• manages building automation system maintenance programs and provides recommendations for upgrades;
• develops and implements procedures and tracking for energy consumption;
• analyzes energy use and incorporates results into programs;
• develops forecasts and reports for energy use;
• assists in developing utility budgets and peak load management;
• assists in incorporating sustainable energy principles into routine maintenance and new and renovation projects;
• recommends equipment and operational strategies to maximize operating efficiency;
• represents Facilities Services in meetings and on committees;
• and works with staff, students, and faculty to help develop an on-going University energy management plan. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related energy field plus at least 2 years of engineering or energy related field required. 
• Strong leadership qualities;
• the ability to manage multiple tasks and establish priorities;
• interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills;
• and the ability to work with diverse groups also required.  
• Professional registration within the State of Iowa or ability to become registered/licensed within 2 years and an understanding of financial analysis, energy rate setting, and life cycle costing are preferred.  
• Criminal and other relevant background checks required.
