Position Overview:
This position is located within the Product Management organization at Federspiel Controls. You'll be part of the world-class team that we have been building, which is responsible for identifying opportunities for our unique and highly-regarded enterprise energy management systems and providing solutions to our customers needs. You will play a key role in capitalizing on our huge growth opportunity in the data center market and in contributing to the rapid growth of our company.
You will work closely with Sales to lead the technical aspects of the pre- and post-sales cycle through an unmatched focus on creating customer value. You will work with potential and existing customers in an advisory capacity, extracting and analyzing their needs, auditing the environment and gathering data needed to develop configurations and proposals.
You will provide the primary technical point of contact with customers to ensure that the organization and our products effectively meet their needs. You will have responsibility for all technical aspects of the client relationship, and provide a conduit between the field and all other areas of the organization, ensuring that customer needs are communicated to Sales, Product Management, Marketing and Engineering for feature enhancement and development.
Candidates may have prior experience in energy efficiency consulting or performance contracting.
The position is based in our El Cerrito office, with travel required to work with customers at their facilities and to represent the company at trade shows and industry events.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver on all technical aspects of a customer engagement.
- Fully understand and effectively communicate the Federspiel Controls product offering.
- Complete customer site audits and data gathering.
- Complete energy savings estimates based on site audit data and engineering principles.
- Complete system configuration.
- Contribute technical sections to sales proposals.
- Report account activity, opportunity status and other details through Salesforce.
- Prepare and present product performance and data analysis to customers.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience performing energy efficiency calculations using methods such as bin analysis; desirable that this experience includes data centers or buildings.
- Minimum 3 years of customer-facing technical experience working with prospective customers.
- Familiarity with approaches to estimating energy usage and savings.
- A firm understanding of HVAC systems, control systems and energy management.
- Experience with using Matlab, Excel and Autocad.

- Excellent data extraction, analysis and presentation abilities.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willing to get your hands dirty and do what it takes to delight customers.
- Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
