The internship is a part-time entry-level position in the Electric Department working on energy conservation and renewable energy programs, under the City's Receptionist/Clerk job classification. 

Responsibilities will include working on energy conservation programs, working in public events, checking rebate applications for qualification and accuracy, updating brochures at retail and other outlets, meeting with sales personnel at retail outlets and training them on energy efficiency programs, and other similar duties. 

Minimum Requirements: Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and One year of general clerical experience that includes public contact.

Desired Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Education and/or experience in energy conservation and/or renewable energy programs 

Knowledge of: energy conservation; electric safety; renewable generation technology; engineering drafting and graphic design; principles and practices of filing and records management; and standard personal computer hardware and software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Ability to: communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals; evaluate situations, identify problems, and exercise sound independent judgment within established guidelines; walk or stand for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, crawl, climb, and lift as necessary to perform assigned duties; and lift, carry, and relocate a variety of equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver's license may be required. A medical exam is required prior to appointment. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job assignment 

SALARY: $20 per hour; up to 15 hours per week
