The Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC), founded in 1986, is a non-profit organization with approximately 160 employees. VEIC's mission is to reduce the economic, social, and environmental costs of energy consumption through the promotion of cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.  

Position Overview:

Administers and coordinates the implementation of prescriptive and upstream rebate services.  Participates in the development and implementation of market-based strategies, initiatives and activities to maximize penetration of cost effective energy efficiency in business markets while contributing to a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable and stimulating work environment.

Responsibilities:

(Majority of duties, but not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary.)

  1. Processes commercial prescriptive rebate application forms including commercial lighting, HVAC, motors, refrigeration, dairy farm and others as necessary. Processing includes reconciliation and validation of forms submitted by customers and contractors, data entry, database uploads, reconciling rebate check requests, and other procedural requirements.
  2. Processes supplier/distributor upstream rebate submissions to support upstream rebate programs.
  3. Provides high quality customer service for both internal and external customers in the administrative and technical service delivery of BES prescriptive rebate services.
  4. Maintains accurate, current project records in the KITT database and hard copy files as necessary.
  5. Develops and maintains Quality Control plan for incoming prescriptive applications and upstream rebate programs.
  6. Provides administrative support to BES Energy Consultants in support of Prescriptive and Upstream Rebate Programs.
  7. Works with and supports BES management, staff, and teams with the development and implementation of strategies designed to maximize penetration of energy efficiency in the business market. This includes an understanding of target markets including trade allies, manufacturers, and technologies.
  8. Performs basic energy analyses, screens measures, and calculates incentives for prescriptive projects.
  9. Responsible for approval of incentive payments for prescriptive projects up to a predetermined threshold amount.
  10. Maintains ongoing communications with business market players (for example: customers, contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, consultants and others).
  11. Produces regular reports, as requested, that provide prescriptive and upstream participant information for BES Managers.
  12. Plays an integral role in updates of Prescriptive Forms. Collects and tracks feedback from market actors to incorporate into ongoing Efficiency Smart commercial prescriptive rebate programs.

Qualifications: 

Knowledge and Experience:

(Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position.)

  1. Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  2. Associates degree and at least 2 years experience in technical analysis, project assistance or administrative experience required, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  3. Ability to work with customers, contractors and commercial equipment vendors, building designers and utility representatives.
  4. Basic understanding of commercial energy-efficient technologies, including but not limited to: Commercial HVAC, Commercial Lighting, Commercial Refrigeration, and Commercial Kitchen Equipment. Position will require basic understanding of specific manufacturers' equipment and energy efficiency benefits, typical equipment applications, model number nomenclature, and ability to verify equipment eligibility through websites, catalogs, or equipment sales representatives.
  5. Strong Microsoft Access and Excel spreadsheet skills. Ability to work with large detailed spreadsheets.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  7. Proficiency with word processing and database software.
  8. Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  9. Strong analytical skills.
  10. Understanding of basic energy efficiency principles.

Working Conditions:

(Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position.)

Internal: Work is normally performed in climate controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.).  No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of internal job duties.

External: Moderate travel is required.  Work requires moderate travel throughout Vermont to visit sites where efficiency measures are proposed or installed. Site visits may include entry into existing facilities or construction sites. Site visits may involve examination of mechanical or electrical systems and/or processes, as well as building components.

Physical Demands:

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but many duties are performed from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to approximately 40 pounds such as files, documents, and some equipment. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. Repetitive motion injuries may occur. Company will provide adaptive devices as needed.  External work may involve inspecting and crawling in confined spaces as well as climbing ladders.
