Position Overview:

ERG seeks an experienced professional for the Energy and Emissions Program Analyst position who has  with expertise in energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions to support improved building performance and sustainability efforts in the federal government and nonprofit sector and get in on the ground floor of a new, international building decarbonization and certification program. Responsibilities include a range of analytical tasks, including evaluating energy conservation measures for laboratories; determining appropriate emissions factors for both operational and embodied carbon; conducting energy assessments; analyzing facility energy and water data trends; maintaining databases of sustainability performance information; working with software developers on scoring and algorithms for energy and emissions data and improvement measures; supporting the development of an international certification program for lab building performance; and interfacing with clients.

  • The office is located in Arlington, Virginia, with flexibility for remote work and hoteling. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Description:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or engineering
  • 4-8 years of relevant professional experience in energy and emissions reduction programs
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a manner that is understandable to a variety of audiences
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and demands
  • Desire to contribute to and excel within a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team of talented professionals

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Familiarity with energy efficiency improvement, water conservation measures, and emissions inventories in laboratories
  • Onsite energy assessment experience with Level 2 ASHRAE audits and system optimization
  • Customer service and/or consulting experience
