Position Overview
The Energy and Cost Manager reports to the plant manager, and is responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and tracking of energy savings and cost management initiatives.
Responsibilities
- The energy savings part of the job focuses on identifying and leading projects and actions that will result in a minimum of 15% energy reduction for the Clinton facility by year end 2016 compared to the 2010 baseline.
- The cost management part of the job focuses on identifying and leading projects and actions that reduce manufacturing costs for a product line or for the plant, that lead to increased sustainability.
- The position also works with plant management to share best practices and solutions with and from other ADM facilities.
- It is also responsible for raising plant awareness of these important factors and increasing knowledge and skills of key personnel in the identification, development and implementation of energy efficiency and cost savings.
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
- BS in Engineering or equivalent experience. Certified Energy Manager certification - a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years experience, with a track record of outstanding focus on business costs and results.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant production processes and equipment.
- Background in process or project engineering, process controls and project management preferred.
- Understanding of ADM capital expenditure planning and approval process and the ability to work effectively within that process.
- Outstanding analytical skills - a must.
- Ability to conduct research, collect information and gain acceptance for a course of action. Openness and willingness to consider input and perspectives from a variety of sources and to identify a course of action that will lead to business results.
- Strong interest in energy or environmental conservation - a plus.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to convey ideas effectively to all levels of the plant and division organization. Ability to work with outside expert consultants and internal system experts to identify new projects. Ability to work with project champions to improve project resourcing where needed.
- Leadership ability to make decisions, create a vision, build commitment and implement actions.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Must be a results oriented self-starter.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Special Characteristics:
- Physical requirements include walking long distances, standing, climbing stairs and the potential for climbing ladders, going to elevated heights and close spaces, etc. to understand the operations and opportunities.
- Working within extreme temperature conditions and lifting up to 50 lbs.
