Energy Analytics Developer, Forecasting and Optimization

Position Overview

We're seeking candidates for the position of Energy Analytics Developer, Forecasting and Optimization. We're looking for talented individuals with a serious commitment to energy system modeling to join our team in Boulder, CO.

Job Responsibilities

Solve complex analytic problems to make mission critical decisions for energy supply by:

• Translating requirements into model formulation
• Implementing forecasting and optimization models for operation and
• valuation of renewable resources and battery storage
• Develop both prototype models and production software

Note: This position also involves computational stochastic optimization, decision making under uncertainty, statistical learning, algorithms in statistics and finance applications, stochastic search, simulating high penetrations of wind and solar energy, optimizing generation under uncertainty, and planning and control of energy storage.

Qualifications

Skills & Knowledge:

• Experience in Python and relevant libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy)
• Time series modeling and advanced statistics
• Optimization methods and commercial solvers
• Familiarity with database programs (SQL, Oracle)
• Knowledge of wholesale electricity market a plus
• Ability to communicate with impact and confidence, both verbally and in writing
• Pro-active self-starter
• Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork skills and work ethic
• Interest in learning about and deploying novel software solutions

Education & Experience:

• PhD or MS in Computer Science, Operations Research, or Power Systems
• 3+ years of industry or academic experience in the field
