Position Overview:

The Electrical Design Engineer - Commercial provides site evaluation, system design, and sub-consultant management services for SunPower's large-scale commercial projects as a part of the Design Engineering Group. The Design Engineering Group designs rooftop and ground mounted solar arrays, generating full sets of construction documents to support our in-house construction project management team. Candidates must demonstrate strong design, communication, and creative problem solving skills, and have excellent AutoCAD skills.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of detailed electrical designs for rooftop systems and free standing ground-mounted solar arrays
• Site layout, planning and design
• Coordination with Sales Leads, Project Managers, and other project participants
• Managing engineering consultants for calculations, drawing packages, professional stamps
• Designing components to address site-specific requirements
• Creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawing packages
• Creating Bills of Materials for projects
• Assisting Salespeople and construction Project Managers with design related questions, responding to RFIs from the field
• Site visits, including occasional domestic and international travel

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
• 3-5 years Experience in Engineering or Design, post-degree
• EIT or PE is a plus, ongoing professional development is encouraged

Qualifications:

• Candidates must be highly organized and capable of working on multiple projects
• Knowledge of electrical design, materials and methods of installation, especially in power generation, is a plus
• Strong design and engineering skills
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and generating detailed construction drawings
• Good communication skills
