Spring Creek Farm is located on Alaska Pacific University's 750-acre Kellogg Campus in Palmer, Alaska. The campus hosts APU's Masters in Outdoor and Environmental Education Program and a small but expanding organic CSA farm (Community Supported Agriculture). 

Position Overview: 

The Educational Farm Projects Coordinator will assist in the development of the Spring Creek Farm Educational Farm. The Educational Farm Projects Coordinator will develop related farm-based educational programming and interpretive materials for local schools and the home-school community. Summer work will include assisting with hands-on building and farm work when necessary.

Responsibilities:

-Planning and developing an educational children's garden
-Developing day-long farm-based educational programming
-Providing support for existing school gardens.
-Developing week-long farm-based summer camp in conjunction with APU's Masters in Outdoor and Environmental Education Program.
-Designing and installing interpretive signage about ecological agriculture and nutrition.
-Developing community outreach materials on ecological agriculture, health and nutrition.

Qualifications:

-BA/BS
-Experience working with children

Preferred:

-Experience developing educational materials
-Background in Environmental or Experiential Education
-Some knowledge of and experience with basic gardening/farming techniques

Compensation:

-A monthly living stipend of approximately $1000
-An Education Award up to $4725

Housing: Housing is provided on-site in exchange for minimal caretaking responsibilities.

Dates: February 15, 2009 to January 15, 2010
