Description

The U.S. Green Building Council has an opportunity for a practical learning experience for a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in media resources through an un-paid internship with its Education department.

Position Overview: 

The Education Media Resources intern will assist Education Media Resources Team in the development and delivery of USGBC distance education products, including (but not limited to) webinars, podcasts, and videos. Through this position, the intern will become proficient in all stages of podcast production and multimedia education product development. The intern is encouraged to bring creativity and innovation to the position and must be professional, enjoy working as a team and with customers, USGBC committees, and contractors. The intern must be available to work in USGBC's Washington, D.C. office.

This internship is unpaid, and is available in exchange for school credit.

Responsibilities:

Internship Details Include

  • Collaborate with the Education Media Resources team in the implementation of USGBC's webinar program, podcast program, as well as the USGBC Webinar Subscription program
  • Assist in the collection and editing of webinar materials from subject matter experts
  • Support the Education Media Coordinator in live webinar events
  • Support the retention of USGBC Webinar Subscription, including communicating with current webinar subscription customers on best practices and programmatic updates via USGBC.org
  • Organize webinar production files, including presentations, archived podcast information, product permission forms, etc.
  • Research new technologies associated with webinar development and podcast hosting, including online platforms that increase flexibility and accessibility for both programs
  • Gather podcast interviews and developing storylines for podcasts
  • Edit audio content for podcasts in Garage Band
  • Post podcasts on USGBC Knowledge Exchange iTunes Station
  • Generate and implement ideas for increasing market reach of podcasts
  • Update USGBC.org with pertinent information on podcasts, webinars, and the USGBC Webinar Subscription

Qualifications:

Education and Training Requirements/Preferences:

  • Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate degree program required, preferably in the field of sustainability, education, eLearning, or instructional design

Experience Requirements:

  • Prior experience with eLearning or sustainability preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with multimedia products, such as podcasts and webinars

Other Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize projects with multiple and often competing deadlines
  • Ability to work under-pressure to execute live, virtual events
  • Strong writing, communications, and organization skills and an attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Familiarity with digital platforms for web conferencing, audio and video editing, as well as HTML editing preferred
  • Ability to learn new software applications with ease
  • Commitment to USGBC mission
