Description
Position Overview:
The Education Intern works one-on-one with the Teacher Naturalist of School, Family & Youth Programs with the implementation of a variety of ecology-based family programs that will be offered both onsite at the Joppa Flats Education Center and on the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island. Preferably 2 - 3 days a week minimum with flexible hours. Position includes some weekend work.
Responsibilities:
- Organize a loaning system and create inventory lists for books, curriculum and activity kits.
- Assemble teaching handouts, flyers, signage, and other program materials.
- Assist in ensuring the safety of all participants and other volunteers.
- Assist group leaders with the implementation of family programs, activities, crafts and outdoor games.
- Assist with the organizing of field gear, the set up and break down of all components of program.
Qualifications:
- Possesses a strong ability to organize.
- Demonstrates reliability, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
- Needs strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with outdoor activities such as birding, hiking, canoeing, etc. preferred.
- Ability to work with people of all ages, interests and backgrounds.
- Experience organizing programs or activities for children preferred.
