Position Overview: 

The Editorial Manager is charged with driving the evolving content strategy forward and executing against that strategy. Additionally, the Editorial Manager will work closely with the Web Producer and the Director of Online Content to execute against the editorial calendar. The Editorial Manager will work with direction from the Director of Online Content and Marketing.

This is a contract position with the potential to become permanent staff.

Responsibilities:

Would you excel doing the following?

  • Managing and coordinating all editorial efforts for RecycleBank.com editorial content including original posts/articles, licensed content, partner success stories, and special editorial features
  • Developing and managing editorial calendar
  • Overseeing content partner relationships and identifying and evaluating potential partners, ranging from licensing agreements to freelancers/experts
  • Recruiting new contributors, experts, and talent
  • Working with marketing and online revenue team to set the editorial calendar for the individual channels as well as how that calendar fits with the overall content direction of RecycleBank.com
  • Liaising with writers as day-to-day contact
  • Copy editing and proofreading work
  • Managing all related invoicing
  • Stay abreast of content, features, strengths & weaknesses on competitive sites
  • Assisting in managing the corresponding editorial budget
  • Working with Director of Online Content and Marketing to set and maintain overall editorial voice

Qualifications: 

Do you have a demonstrated track record of success with the following?

  • Developing and overseeing editorial content, including editing, quality assurance and proofreading
  • Strong understanding of legal standards for editorial and copy compliance
  • Working with online content management systems
  • Strong grammar, copy-editing, writing and communication skills
  • An amazing ability to multi-task and demonstrated time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Do you have this level of education & experience?

  • 3 years of experience in editing working with an online content management system
  • Bachelors degree strongly preferred
