Description
A Living on Earth internship provides an invaluable introduction to broadcast media. Each semester, we rely on a handful of bright, capable interns to contribute to our award-winning program, and experience first-hand what goes on behind the scenes of a nationally-distributed public radio news magazine. Interns work in our Harvard Square bureau.
THE EDITORIAL INTERNS assist in various phases of story production, from finding and researching original stories and helping track down experienced correspondents, contacts and newsmakers, to critiquing final scripts. They monitor the news wires and newspapers for environmental affairs. Interns generate questions for interviews and retrieve archive tape and other source material. Candidates require strong writing and communication skills and should submit clips and/or writing samples. Some experience in journalism, environmental sciences, and public policy is helpful, but not required.
Timeline:
Interns agree to serve one term and are usually limited to one term. They commit to working for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Summer Term: Memorial Day - Labor Day
Application deadline: March 7, 2002

We are a production of the World Media Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization that seeks to report quality coverage of environmental issues. We are not an advocacy organization. Our offices are conveniently located in Harvard Square in Cambridge near the red line T-stop and bus routes.
