~ Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) is located in Marin County, California, just over the Golden Gate Bridge, north of San Francisco. The District: 

The District is a medium sized, municipal, water agency with a Board of Directors/General Manager form of government, 240 full time employees and a $107,895,032 combined annual operating and capital budget for FY 2020. 

Annually, the District delivers water to 190,800 residents and businesses in the central and southern portions of Marin County and has stewardship responsibilities for 21,000 acres of pristine watershed lands on Mt. Tam.  

The Position:

The Marin Municipal Water District seeks an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist (Vegetation) to support implementation of watershed vegetation programs.  This includes oversight of vegetation inventory, mapping, monitoring, environmental compliance, mitigation and restoration activities.

Responsibilities:

  • The Ecologist or Senior Ecologist (Vegetation) will have the responsibility for providing direction to technical support staff and contractors during implementation of all phases of the District’s Vegetation Management Plan, as well as with other watershed natural resources programs, as directed.
  • In addition, the Ecologist or Senior Ecologist (Vegetation) will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and staff and will maintain a work environment that fosters positive employee engagement, high productivity and effective communication. 

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of botany, forestry, ecology, natural resources management and environmental compliance.
  • The position will be staffed at a level commensurate with the qualifications of the selected individual and the needs of the District.

Compensation:

  • Ecologist: $6,864 - $8,382 per month, DOQ/DOE
  • Senior Ecologist: $7,923 - $9,708 per month, DOQ/DOE

Timeline:

  •  Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday February 26, 2020
  •  Finalists will be invited back for interviews tentatively scheduled for Friday March 20, 2020.
