Eco Fundraising Field Representative

Green Market Fundraising, Inc. (GMF) is working at the direction of New Jersey's Clean Energy ProgramTM (NJCEP) to facilitate the education of students at K-12 schools on energy efficiency issues and to perform fundraising for schools by selling compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). The program may take place with any public or private K-12 school in New Jersey, although schools in specific New Jersey communities have been targeted (see below for list of communities).

Position Overview: 

GMF is seeking to work with 4-6 motivated fundraising field representatives to engage school leadership and manage the fundraising process. GMF Field Representatives (GMF Field Reps) will work with schools to facilitate the sale of energy efficient CFLs and raise awareness of benefits of energy efficiency.

Schools will receive 50% of sales of CFL bulbs that the school generates. With the assistance of NJCEP, we are able to sell CFLs at the low price of $5-7 for 4-packs of mini bulbs and $4-5 for 1-packs of indoor/outdoor flood lights. We estimate that with a high level of effort and work from our Eco Field Representatives, each school will raise ~$750-1,500 on average through the sale of ~1,000-2,000 bulbs.

The GMF Field Rep will work closely with the management team of Green Market Fundraising and gain valuable experience in the management of energy efficiency and environmental outreach/advocacy campaigns.

Responsibilities:

The GMF Field Representative will sign-up schools for the fundraising program and manage the end to end process of fundraising at the Rep's assigned portfolio of schools. With respect to signing up schools, GMF Field Rep will work with school principals and PTOs/PTAs to sign agreements to participate in the CFL fundraiser.

With respect to program management, GMF Field Rep will work with schools to coordinate the CFL fundraiser which will include the distribution of catalogs/order forms, assistance in collection of orders/payment processing and delivery of CFL bulbs to the central school facility. Beyond student-led fundraising, GMF Field Rep may supplement sales with 2-4 fundraising events at locations in the community.

More specifically, GMF Field Rep responsibilities include:

General:

o Sign-up schools for the Fundraising Program by executing the GMF School Fundraising Agreement with schools
o Manage fundraising and fully support schools performing CFL fundraisers

Traditional Student-Led Fundraising:

o Engage and inform the school principal and the school's designated fundraising lead contact
o Ensure distribution of catalog/order forms to students and others involved in the school's fundraising process
o Distribute GMF's educational information
o Explain order processing and payment collection process
o Manage the school from the point of fundraising beginning date to order date
o Reconcile the school's order and pledge forms and confirm final fundraising proceeds
o Arrange for delivery of bulbs to school on pre-determined date/time and assist in distribution

Event Field Rep-Led Fundraising (if necessary):

o Set up and perform fundraising events on behalf of participating schools at New Jersey community locations (e.g., Woodbridge Center Mall)
o Manage event logistics including pre-event set up (table, flyers, banner), CFL bulb sales, payment collection, collection of customer order information and post-event take down
o Facilitate the sale of CFLs at the event(s)
o Manage a GMF employee and 2-5 student volunteers during event
o Return customer order data to GMF management team immediately after fundraising event

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Ability to work independently and organize tasks
• Ability to manage employees and students
• Excellent communication skills, especially with school representatives and students
• Attention to detail in management of fundraising process and collection of customer data
• A car to transport CFL bulbs/event materials at designated meeting points close to fundraising events
Preferred Qualifications:
• Sales-oriented candidates who have 1-2 years in sales and marketing
• Eco-conscious individuals who are looking to make a difference and help the environment
• Candidates who have experience working with school staff and students
• Candidates who have experience coordinating fundraising activities

Compensation: This is a paid, commission-based position. Commission for this position is based on the number of bulbs sold through CFL fundraisers and the number of customer order forms completed.
