Green Market Fundraising has been contracted to work at the direction of New Jersey's Clean Energy ProgramTM (NJCEP) to manage CFL donation events in communities throughout the state of New Jersey. 

As part of the donation events, Green Market Fundraising will facilitate the donation of energy efficient compact fluorescent light bubs (CFLs) to raise awareness of energy efficiency and increase energy efficiency in New Jersey residential homes.  In addition, Green Market Fundraising (GMF) will coordinate the collection of New Jersey resident data for the promotion of other NJCEP energy efficiency programs.

Position Overview:

As part of GMF's work with NJCEP, the Green Market Fundraising Field Representative is responsible for the management of donation events in targeted NJ communities (Belmar, Englewood, Long Branch, Newark, New Brunswick and Red Bank) to disseminate CFL light bulbs and collect required information as directed by NJCEP.  Donation events will be held at various times during the week and over the weekend at summer festivals, concert series, malls and shopping centers in the targeted NJ cities.

The field representative will work closely with the management team of Green Market Fundraising and gain valuable experience in the management of energy efficiency and environmental outreach and advocacy campaigns.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing all logistics and details of donation events including setting up of donation table, hanging of donation banner and posting of program flyers at donation sites
  • Ensuring an orderly donation process for 150-200 CFL bulbs over a 6-8 hour period
  • Collecting accurate and complete customer information and answers to energy usage/efficiency questions from customers to which donations are made (forms will be provided)
  • Managing a team of 1-3 employees/volunteers to assist in the donation/information collection process
  • Returning collected data and donation materials to GMF management team at end of each donation event

This is a contract position for the months of July-September 2008.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or working towards a bachelor's degree at a 4-year university)
  • Honesty, integrity and a committment to the environment are highly valued
  • Ability to work independently and organize tasks and manage teams
  • Attention to detail in management of donation event and collection of customer data
  • A car to acquire CFL bulbs and donation materials at designated meeting points close to the donation event in the target cities (Belmar, Englewood, Long Branch, Newark, New Brunswick and Red Bank). (please note, it is best if you live in or around target cities to minimize travel).

Compensation: This is a paid position that is a pay-for-performance compensation structure.  The field representative will be paid variably based on the number of bulbs donated and the number of customer information forms completed.  In part, compensation will depend on experience level (within a given range), but is targeted to be in the $15-$25/hr. range (per 8-hour donation event).
