Eastern Sierra Program Manager

The Eastern Sierra Program Manager will take the lead role in California Trouts conservation work in the Eastern Sierra region while working in conjunction with CalTrouts San Francisco central office and staff.

Duties:

• The Program Manager will be responsible for identifying, managing and organizing conservation and restoration projects in the Eastern Sierra region and Golden Trout Wilderness.
• Other responsibilities will include project staff supervision and relationship building with community leaders and government officials, public agencies, donors, corporations, and other nonprofit organizations.
• Incumbent will develop and manage an annual budget for Eastern Sierra projects plans and contribute to external effectiveness of California Trout and its mission.

Qualifications:

The ability to clearly evaluate, prioritize, execute and advance project plans on the most critical conservation threats to wild trout and their waters is a key to the success of the position.

• Bachelors or Masters degree in biology, fisheries, ecology, hydrology, environmental science/studies or related field and 3-5 years of related work experience.
• Excellent written and communication skills required.
• Successful management experience required, including ability to lead, set objectives, and supervise work plans.
• Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills required.
• Proven experience developing, directing, and managing projects, staff and budget.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
• Availability to travel, primarily throughout the Eastern Sierra region (valid CA drivers license and dependable vehicle required).
• Experience doing field work including biological and ecological assessments (stream and snorkel surveys, habitat/stream monitoring, flow measurements, etc.) preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Experience with Geographic Information Systems (ArcInfo/ArcView) preferred.
• Familiarity with the Eastern Sierra region, its ecology, players, and politics a plus.
• Familiarity and understanding of fly fishing a plus.
