Our Network Operations Center (NOC) supports these applications across thousands of C&I customer sites throughout the world. Using our C&I customers' energy usage flexibility, we make capacity, energy, ancillary services, and carbon products available to grid operators and our more than 100 utility customers as a cost-effective alternative to traditional power generation, transmission, and distribution.
Position Overview:
EnerNOC has an immediate need for a Dispatch Operations Manager. The Dispatch Operations Manager at EnerNOC will lead a team of approximately six Dispatch Analysts to prepare for, execute and finalize all activities associated with demand response dispatches in EnerNOC's demand response programs.
The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of demand response business, program rules, and dispatch execution. The Dispatch Operations Manager will lead a high-performing team to drive process improvements, define system enhancements, train dispatch process, ensure high-availability, and find ways to add value to EnerNOC's demand response offering. The Dispatch Operations Manager must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced, team environment.
Responsibilities:
The Dispatch Operations Manager will lead the Dispatch Operations team in 4 primary areas:
1. Preparing for demand response dispatches:
- Coordinating with other departments/ teams to introduce new programs into the Network Operations portfolio
- Developing and executing dispatch process training for all teams throughout EnerNOC that participate in demand response dispatches
- Ensuring adequate training of 24/7 staff to handle dispatches of programs during off hours
- Developing and coordinating the use of primary and backup tools and processes
- Ensuring high availability of our demand response dispatch management capabilities
- Coordinating cross-functional efforts to ensure a high level of program readiness
- Developing requirements for DemandSMART application enhancements
2. Executing demand response dispatches:
- Ensuring proper dispatch and follow-up with sites to reach optimal dispatch performance
- Ensuring communication of dispatch related information internally in a timely manner
- Ensuring adequate staffing available to handle expected dispatches
- Coordinating multi-dispatch activities during large dispatch days
3. Finalizing demand response dispatches and communicating results:
- Communicating post-dispatch summaries to internal teams
- Capturing information on problems identified during a dispatch and driving issues to resolution
- Coordinating the efforts of all teams following a dispatch to ensure completion of all post-dispatch activities
- Coordinating with Marketing and Sales to capture best practices and customer stories that will help EnerNOC win new business
- Capturing lessons learned following each dispatch to feed continuous improvements in process, tools and training
4. Conducting all aspects of managing the staff on the Dispatch Operations team.
Further, the ideal candidate will find ways to increase operational efficiency by inventing ways to streamline operations and communicating ideas to the operations and engineering teams. The Dispatch Operations Manager will become an expert in EnerNOC's core operational processes, and will develop a deep understanding of the issues surrounding load curtailment, emergency backup generation, and demand response programs across the nation.
During demand response dispatches, our commercial and industrial power providers rely on us to notify them immediately, to monitor and support their load curtailment activities, and in many cases to remotely control their equipment and power generation during potential blackout situations. While dispatch operations expertise is essential for this role, all operations staff support our core demand response business as needed, and a desire to participate in this team environment is essential.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
- BA/BS
- 2 - 5 years experience in demand response operations
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Desire to learn new technologies
- Ability to manage high-stress situations calmly and effectively
- Self-motivation and the ability to work in a fast paced, forward moving environment
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Education:
- Masters in Management, Engineering, or other technical field.
- 1 - 2 years management experience
- Experience with energy management, power generation, and related technologies
