Position Overview:
The Director of Sustainability is expected to function as a visionary leader to help Temple University to become recognized as a model of sustainability in all aspects of the University. Responsible for development and direction of comprehensive university-wide sustainability program that integrates sustainable principles into operational, academic, and outreach functions.
You will also manage the daily operations of the program using best practices and leading technology; promote efforts in sustainability grant development and assess cost-effectiveness, technical feasibility, and means of achieving acceptance; and work with appropriate University departments to implement such projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, environmental science or related field
- 5 or more years comprehensive experience in environmental project management with a focus on development of sustainability project
- Understanding of energy management programs and environmental principles, including their impacts on building design and transportation programs
- Ability to analyze sustainability initiatives and their cost-effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance by the community, as well as create and implement strategic plan utilizing appropriate departments, committees, and individuals
- Strong project management and systems analysis skills
- Experience in a university setting would be an asset
