~ The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) is the premier trade association representing the nation's public clean water utilities and the position plays a vital role in the day to day execution of NACWA's strategic advocacy. ~
Position Overview
NACWA seeks a Regulatory Affairs Director to implement NACWA's regulatory strategy, federal government liaison and lobbying activities.
NACWA's offices are easily accessible by Metro and public transportation and located in the Dupont Circle area of Washington DC.
Responsibilities
- The position assists in the development and implementation of NACWA's regulatory affairs program;
- Monitor regulatory proposals of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other federal agencies;
- Assist in related technical review and analyses;
- Coordinate member agency review and comment;
- Research and assist in the compilation of comments or responses to members, federal agencies, EPA, Congress and other organizations; draft correspondence;
- Inform the membership of relevant developments, reviews and analyses;
- Attend EPA and other relevant agency meetings;
- Develop strategies, and lead activities and initiatives of NACWA's Standing Committees; and
- Track and monitor relevant state and regional developments including regulatory and legislative initiatives.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate must have a strong technical background;
- Strong oral and demonstrated written communication skills and the ability to learn and explain complex laws and regulations;
- The ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with regulatory officials and Association leadership;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Windows operating systems and databases, a plus; and
- Bachelor's degree in science or engineering or related technical field and a minimum of 8-10 years relevant work experience required, including working on federal environmental policy issues.
Note: Some out-of-town, overnight travel is required.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. NACWA offers an excellent benefits package.
