Description
The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 8,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic manager to serve as the Director of Professional Accreditation to oversee the planning, development and delivery of personnel certification standards and services for a rapidly growing, global credentialing program and diverse community of more than 35,000 green building professionals.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Direct and manage personnel certification operations including staff and vendor management; development, delivery and maintenance of programs and services; customer service and satisfaction; and overall quality control
- Prepare exam development and maintenance plans and schedules in coordination with key staff and volunteer committees
- Create and implement policies, procedures and standardized processes for departmental activities including exam development, exam delivery, data security to ensure quality, timeliness, consistency and accuracy of personnel certification programs and services
- Manage and document compliance with organizational processes and third party standards of operation (i.e. ISO 17024)
- In collaboration with the accreditation scheme committee, develop and implement standard policies for administering the credential including accreditation maintenance, candidate eligibility, codes of conduct, and others as needed
- Manage departmental human resources, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation
- Develop departmental budgets and business plans, track financial and program performance, and prepare regular reports and projections as needed
- Oversee selection and administration of technology solutions for exam data management, maintenance tracking, surveying and reporting
- Serve as primary staff liaison on personnel certification activities to accreditation scheme committee and Board of Directors
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry certification organizations and programs
- Serve as USGBC spokesperson and representative on issues related to personnel certification at relevant meetings, presentations, and conferences
- Five to ten years management experience
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing examination and curriculum development; continuing education and/or global certification experience a plus
- Building or environmental industry knowledge or experience a plus
- Understanding of credentialing and testing methods and culture
- Ability to assess alone or in a team, independently-operated certification programs using ISO 17024; accreditation as an ISO 17024 assessor a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
