The Sustainable Energy Research Facility (SERF) is a completely off-grid building constructed at Frostburg State University The building houses FSU Renewable Energy Center, where a wide variety of renewable energy research projects and instructional classes are conducted by FSU faculty and students.

Position Overview  

Engineering, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Sustainable Energy to begin Spring 2015 or Summer 2015. The full position title is: Director of Sustainable Energy Research Facility and Assistant/Associate Professor of Engineering. 

Responsibilities 

  • Serve as Director of the new Sustainable Energy Research Facility (SERF) and teach courses in the Engineering Programs.
  • SERF is a completely off-grid building where faculty and students conduct a variety of renewable energy research projects and instructional classes.
  • In addition, SERF is designed as a demonstration and test site for renewable energy technologies appropriate for small-scale distributed use.  

Qualifications  

Minimum: 

  • Earned Doctorate in Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, or Renewable Energy Engineering or closely related field. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment and to lead research teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills. 

Preferred: 

  • Proven ability to provide scientific leadership to peers, junior colleagues, and students.
  • Candidates with expertise in the engineering aspects of sustainable energy including energy conversion, energy conservation, energy storage, energy system analysis, and advanced materials for energy applications are especially encouraged to apply.
