Description
The Director of Special Events generates general operating revenue,
increases the organizations visibility, and cultivates relationships
through special events, marketing initiatives and other fundraisers.
Duties:
- Devising a strategy, including preparing budgets, for promoting,
coordinating, and implementing special events within the context of the
organizations fundraising goals. - Supervising and managing all special events, including dinners,
lunches, receptions, raffles, auctions, and lectures, as well as
departmental events. - Directing public relations efforts for fundraising activities.
- Working with appropriate outside vendors, including printers, graphic
designers, and caterers. - Acknowledging, tracking and reporting on event donations.
- Detailing and acknowledging contributions from Board of Directors.
- Helping maintain lists on Raisers Edge.
- Supervising volunteer coordination.
- Assisting Director of Development with soliciting underwriting and
in-kind contributions. - Working with the President/CEO, Director of Development and Board
of Directors to raise public visibility and develop additional sources of
funding.
Qualifications:
Minimum of five years experience in planning and implementing
fundraising events and working knowledge of Raisers Edge is required.
Candidates should also possess excellent organization, written and
verbal communication skills.
