~ The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) administers an annual disclosure process on behalf of 767 institutional investors with combined assets in excess of $92 trillion. ~
Disclosing companies provide quantitative and qualitative information about their greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency programs, water management, exposure to deforestation and strategic business approach to environmental risk.
Position Overview
CDP is seeking an experienced financial analyst to lead its new investor-focused research function. The position may be based in CDP's London office but there is flexibility over location.
The Head of Research is an exciting new role to help improve investor understanding and knowledge of CDP data and enable investors to take specific actions in their engagement with companies. The successful candidate will report to CDP's Head of Investor Initiatives and will work integrally with the global Investor Initiatives team. The Head of Research will contribute to the development and implementation of the team's strategy and lead CDP's new investor-focused research function, managing a junior analyst and any further hires.
The successful candidate will work 5 days per week and must be able to work legally in the US or UK and be able to travel nationally and internationally as required.
Responsiblities
Responsibilities include:
- Writing thematic and stock-specific research pieces, integrating CDP data into analysis
- Keeping current with areas of interest to investors by actively engaging with investors, participating in conferences and remaining abreast of industry trends while feeding those back to CDP management and the research team.
- Managing a junior analyst and developing their skills
- Ensuring investors are aware of our data and research and assisting them to use it in their investment process where possible
- Convening and organizing investor roundtables and other informational events
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 6 years' experience working within the financial markets in a senior research role
- A passion for integrating ESG issues into the mainstream investment process
- Knowledge of environmental issues, particularly carbon emissions
- Experience liaising with contacts in senior positions at pension funds, insurance companies and investment managers
- A desire to take ownership and responsibility for their work
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills and a desire to seek out speaking and networking opportunities
- The ability to deliver excellent results under pressure and take pride in working to a high standard
- A flexible but diligent working style, with proven record of working within a team
- An advanced degree in related specialties or a CFA qualification would be an advantage
