~ The Marine Megafauna Foundation (MMF) was originally formed to research, protect and conserve the large populations of marine megafauna found along the Mozambican coastline. We began our efforts in the region back in 2003 but in recent years MMF researchers have expanded their efforts worldwide. ~
In 2012, the Marine Megafauna Foundation became a tax-exempt non-profit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the US tax code (Federal Tax ID 46-0645082). MMF is a registered charity of the state of California where our main offices are held but our primary research facility is located in Tofo Beach, Mozambique.
Position Overview
The Marine Megafauna Foundation is seeking an experienced individual (possibly retired) to guide and lead the philanthropic direction of this growing not for profit during an expansive phase and into the future. The role is voluntary and part time with an opportunity to join the board if appropriate. Ideally the candidate would be available to visit the HQ in Mozambique for a period of 2-4 months to gain an understanding of the organization through hands on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership of the organization's major gift and fundraising operations.
- Identification, cultivation and stewardship of significant new donors.
- Provide strategic and tactical advice and guidance to a full time major gifts officer.
- Oversee the development and implementation of fundraising plans
- Oversee the development of proposals to corporations, foundations and individuals, in support of departmental initiatives.
- Regularly evaluate programs and assesses progress toward goals; report results to the board.
