Position Overview:

The Director of Operations role reports directly to the company founder, and is responsible for office, retail store, and e-commerce operations. A successful candidate will possess the ability to provide strategic leadership and direction while taking a hands-on role in developing operational processes to support the growth of our retail stores and website.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all vendor relations relative to the sourcing of merchandise, sample review, execution of purchase orders, and receipt of products.
  • Manage all operational systems to include Point-of-Sale, e-commerce module, credit card processors, server and mail system to ensure effective productivity. Implement short and long term strategy to ensure growth and business stability.
  • Tracking of daily/monthly/yearly sales statistics by channel. Prepare reports as needed.
  • Reconcile weekly sales media from stores, process bank deposits, and effectively balance revenue with tender.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with supply vendors as needed. Place supply orders for each respective channel as needed to include office and operational supplies, fixturing, software and licensing, packaging and collateral.
  • Maintain all human resource, workers compensation, federal and state posting compliance. Generate operational forms, training, processes and policies as needed.
  • In partnership with Founder, manage general human resource activities including recruiting, hiring, select training, coaching and termination.
  • Manage all inventory movement and database accuracy including inventory adjustments, physical counts, and new product creation within the inventory database.
  • Plan and execute certain marketing and advertising initiatives, including contract and/or agreement negotiation, collateral development and payment management.
  • Manage website activities, including the regular development and enhancement of website content, navigation, visual and product presentation, customer service features, and brand positioning.
  • Evaluate daily/weekly website performance and metrics including time on site, page views, bounce rate, and implement change and strategy to maximize productivity.
  • Partner with and oversee all search engine optimization (SEO) content including campaign management, keyword selection, budget management and allocation.
  • Identify and implement e-commerce best practices to ensure a cohesive customer shopping experience, ensuring we maintain relevant positioning against our peers and competition.
  • Serve as the media contact for the company. Update appropriate PR and communication to include photography, corporate boilerplate and brand positioning.
  • Oversee daily store operations and processes. Develop and implement policies as needed.
  • Oversee weekly personnel scheduling and payroll management.
  • Take an active role in merchandising and visual presentation decisions. Maintain focus on product sell-through, customer education and brand consistency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive specialty retail experience in a multi-unit field leadership or corporate store operations role.
  • Must possess strong understanding of, or have prior experience in managing, e-commerce business execution.
  • Prior experience in human resources, personnel development or training highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective supervisory and time management skills.
  • High standards of tact, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Desire and ability to motivate others to achieve objectives.
  • Background in fashion, fashion marketing, retail sales, luxury products highly desired.
  • Knowledge of Macintosh and PC computers a plus.
