Description

SEE-North is seeking a bright, energetic motivated and
well-organized person. Duties include husbandry (e.g., training and caring
for birds in rehabilitation and also those used in education programs),
facility management (e.g., ordering supplies, maintaining equipment),
program development (for both classroom-based and public programs), and some
supervisory tasks associated with personnel.

Qualifications:
A successful applicant will have excellent communication
skills, knowledge of raptors, specifically, or birds in general, and formal
or non-formal teaching experience.

Location: Petoskey, Michigan

Salary/Benefits:
Salary is $28,000-$32,000, commensurate with experience. Fulltime position includes $0 deductible BCBS health insurance and paid vacations/holidays.

SEE-North's mission is to foster people's connections with the plants, animals, and habitats of northern Michigan; to deepen their knowledge of the natural world; and to inspire in people of all ages a sense of responsibility for their place in nature. We serve a 5-county area in the northern portion of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Our audiences are K-12th grade students, teachers and community residents. We offer a variety of school-based programs to more than 30 local school districts. As one of Michigan's 25 regional mathematics and science centers, we help schools enhance their curricula and we also offer professional development for teachers. We use schools, natural areas and centrally located facilities as sites for teaching and learning. Our approach to environmental education emphasizes inquiry, exploration, and individual action and stewardship based upon what is learned.
