The EICC® is a non-profit organization committed to helping our 80+ international members understand and improve the social and environmental challenges and opportunities in the global electronics supply chain. Our vision is to help our members build an electronics industry supply chain that consistently operates with social, environmental and economic responsibility. We are the premier organization for advancing social and environmental initiatives in the industry.
Through facilitating collaboration among the EICC, our members and external stakeholders, we work with our members to develop supply chain capabilities to assess and address social and environmental risks as they relate to our Code of Conduct. We also focus on issues that are a priority to our members, including emerging issues that are not well understood.
This forward-thinking approach helps develop best practices for EICC members. Responding to immediate and critical issues helps build partnerships, develop industry understanding, and foster a root-cause and solutions-oriented approach. The EICC, founded in 2004, recently transitioned from being managed by member volunteers to a paid staff.
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications for this dynamic and growing organization! The Director of Marketing and Communications will have the opportunity to play a critical role in positioning the EICC as the key social and environmental responsibility organization in the electronics industry. In this role the successful candidate will own the EICC's internal and external marketing and communications strategy and execution.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Marketing and Communications will:
- Update and execute a communications strategy that supports a strong brand and organizational goals
- Develop and implement organizational branding concepts, messaging, positioning and related collateral, leveraging input from staff and members to shape content
- Create and manage a high organizational profile that attracts and engages members, prospects, civil society, media, analysts and investors
- Manage and expand an external presence to drive awareness of the EICC through various channels including wire services, the EICC's website and social media
- Develop and publish the EICC's annual report
- Identify key events and speaking opportunities for the EICC and develop compelling proposals, abstracts and talking points to drive and facilitate selected engagements with key audiences and stakeholders
- Review, and in some cases develop, outbound communications from staff to ensure consistent quality, voice and messaging
- Run the press office function, including media relations, inquiries, press releases, etc.
- Develop and execute internal communications
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following characteristics:
- Will be a strategic thinker with a track record of successful communications while retaining the interest and ability to work on specific internal and external communications projects
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in public relations and marketing
- Experience in corporate social responsibility / sustainability communications and/or the electronics industry preferred
- 5+ years of marketing services; some experience in working with an outside public relations firm preferred
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute media partnerships that drive thought leadership and brand recognition
- Demonstrated ability to run successful internal communications programs
- Exceptional writing, communications and presentation creation and delivery skills, including the ability to synthesize and improve existing channels and adjust style to different audiences and channels
- Ability and willingness to play a range of roles from communications adviser to strategist to hands-on implementer
- Ability to develop and maintain multiple web properties
- Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, English, communications or related field from a leading university
