Position Overview 

The Director of Marketing is responsible for the planning, budgeting and execution of all materials and tools used by our sales team, retail customers, and consumers.

This position includes the management of three core groups: Trade Activation, Consumer Activation and Creative Services with approximately 3 or 4 direct reports. The Marketing Director oversees the department's financial commitments including expense budgets, MROI analysis and resource allocation/planning to ensure execution of our annual plans.

As Director of Marketing you are in charge of delivering our unique, bold and disruptive storytelling and ensuring we hold ourselves to a standard that the industry has yet to see! 

Responsibilities  

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide planning and leadership to the Marketing Department by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values are developed in order to meet and exceed the goals of the marketing plans for FoodState's brands. MegaFood as primary driver with some resource allocation and oversight to INNATE Response (~ 80/20 split of total time).
  • Assume overall responsibility for developing the annual marketing plan and budgets for our brands - including consumer activation, trade activation, event planning and creative services.
  • Prepare new product marketing launch plans for product introductions in cooperation with the product innovation team and project manager.
  • Establish a system of reports and communications for all information from the marketing team to the sales team and for feedback and request from the sales team to the marketing team.
  • Regularly and proactively report effectiveness and expected return on marketing programs and activities to senior management and/or Board of Directors.
  • Plans and coordinates public affairs at a corporate level, to ensure consistency to message and brand standards, while achieving our communications goals. Day to day management of the outside PR firm is up for discussion and may be better suited to one of the team managers.
  • Manages day to day operations and work flow of the Marketing team.
  • Ability to hold C level discussions and present with, or in place of, VP when needed.
  • Ability to travel to major events, industry conferences and with sales team as needed. 

Qualifications  

Required: 

  • 5-7 years of experience in CPG working directly for a brand. Demonstrated success in leading teams, executing against strategy, and delivering results.
  • Extensive Retail marketing experience including proficiency in POS analysis and POP best practices. Independent retail channel experience is a must. Natural products/brand and experience with direct sales teams a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communication and public relations activities.
  • Must have managed outside creative agencies or partners (PR, Adv or other).
  • Experience hiring, training, developing and supervising teams.
  • Ability to multitask and strong time management and organizational skills to manage full team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong appetite for research and analytics.
