Description
The University of Connecticut seeks an individual to lead in the formulation
of environmental policy as the institution moves to attain the ranking of a
top 25, public, research university. The successful candidate should have
credentials in environmental policy, a minimum education of a Master's
degree in Environmental or Public Policy or the equivalent; and 7-10 years
experience directing environmental affairs programs in the public or private
sectors. Evidence of effective interpersonal skills and a proven track
record of working with community groups interested in environmental issues
is desirable.
The Director will report to the Chancellor of the University of Connecticut
and be a member of the administrative team that recommends to the President
all actions that impact environmental performance including land use,
natural resources, air and water quality and development and operations of
the physical plant. The Director will be the liaison between the University
of Connecticut and various public and private groups, regulatory agencies
and interest groups, and will be the institutional spokesperson on all
environmental matters.
The University of Connecticut is currently undergoing an exciting physical
transformation catalyzed by the State's commitment of $1 billion over ten
years to improve the infrastructure of the institution. U.S. News and World
Report has rated UConn as the 28th best public institution in the country,
which represents the greatest rankings rise in 2001 of any public
institution in the top 50.
