Responsibilities:
- Lead cross functional team including Plant Managers and other Power Operations (CPO), Commercial Operations (CCO) and Information Services (IS) personnel responsible for ensuring compliance with non Environmental, Health and Safety regulatory requirements for the Central and Eastern Region portfolio of power plant assets.
- Develop and/or Maintain compliance monitoring systems and programs ensure compliance with Regulatory standards, including processes for the self reporting of non-compliance.
- Act as liaison between Calpine and FERC/NERC/Regional Entities/PUCs/DOE/RTOs and other regulatory bodies for all regulatory compliance issues including but not limited to Reporting requirements, Audit requirements, and any applicable information requests regarding Standards and Regulations.
- Coordinate with the Plants-CPO, Legal, CCO, IS, GovReg and PR, Calpine's responses to FERC/NERC/WECC/CPUC/CEC regarding NERC/Regional Entity audits, CPUC audits, notices of non-compliance as well as coordinate requests for information associated with Compliance Requirements by the various entities.
- Manage the internal and external audit processes required to maintain consistent standards to ensure compliance with applicable FERC/NERC/WECC/CPUC/CEC/CAISO reporting requirements.
- Keep Senior Management informed regarding status of compliance with NERC and other standards, including coordinating the preparation of an annual report for senior management on Calpine's Reliability Standards compliance program.
- Monitor applicable NERC and Regional Entity Reliability Standards and ensure new or revised Reliability Standards are tracked and provide details to the appropriate personnel in CPO,CCO and IS to allow timely comment and compliance. Assemble and submit comments
- Participate and/or coordinate Calpine's participation in the development of NERC Reliability Standards, including providing oral or written comments or coordinating such oral or written testimony by other Calpine personnel or consultants.
- Oversee the development, review and approval of written procedures necessary to ensure compliance with all standards applicable to Calpine, specifically as they relate to:
- Purchasing Selling Entity, Generator Owner and Generator Operator functions as defined by NERC/Regional Entities
- FERC EQR Reporting
- DOE EIA Reporting .
- Provide support to any disputes under any tariff or protocol of an ISO or RTO as required Provide technical and logistical support required by CPO personnel and CCO personnel related to the responsibilities described above.
Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
- 10 years of related industry experience. Knowledge of and experience working with regulatory reporting, accounting and auditing
- Finance and operations preferably in the power generation field. General knowledge of technical operation and performance of power projects.
- Five years operations experience at a power plant is desirable.
- Proven team building and team management skills
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to identify and solve a wide range of business problems. Ability to manage multiple issues and clearly articulate principles, concerns, and solutions for resolution of those issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and managerial skills.
- Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering, Accounting, or related field. M.S. or M.B.A. preferred.
- Must be able to travel and work irregular work hours, including overtime as required.
- Strong time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to utilize Word, Excel and PowerPoint software.
- Must be able to sit and operate a computer with video screen for extended periods of time.
