Director of Communications

Straus Family Creamery (SFC) is a small family-owned organic dairy and creamery located on the beautiful, pristine shores of Tomales Bay with offices situated in Petaluma, CA. SFC has had its roots in the dairy farm industry since 1941. William Straus started the family run dairy with 23 cows that were named after his friends and relatives. In 1994, his son, Albert Straus, opened Straus Family Creamery in order to keep the family farm in agriculture and continue to protect the land through organic and sustainable farming practices. This position is based in Petaluma.

Position Overview:

Job Objective:

Build Straus Family Creamery (SFC) brand awareness and brand equity by creating and implementing an integrated communications strategy that effectively communicates our brand story and company mission

Scope:

The Director of Communications will develop a communications plan, directly managing communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the Straus brand reputation. Responsibilities will include the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities, social networking, and internal company communications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required with preference for degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications or a related field
• Ideal candidate will have at least 6 to 10 years of increasing responsibility in business experience and a proven track record of success in corporate communications, public relations, issues management, internal/external communications and change communication (either in a corporate or agency setting).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills from concept to completion, including message development, audience analysis (including tone and voice), and the creation, editing and tailoring of compelling communications for a variety of channels.
• Experience in the food, and or organic industry is a plus
