Job Summary:
Omega's Director of Communications reports to the Executive Director, oversees the communications, marketing, and reservations staff and is responsible for all aspects of communications, including public relations; advertising campaigns; public and community initiatives; direct mail, internet-based and viral marketing strategies; and maintaining the Omega brand. Work is carried out within the context of our vision, mission, and values. This position is charged with increasing public awareness of, and appreciation for, Omega's role as a non-profit service organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes strategic plans to achieve Omega's communications and marketing objectives
- Develops and executes comprehensive communications and marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of organization
- Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity
- Develops and manages communications and marketing department operating budget.
- Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail
- Serves as liaison with outside agencies on ongoing promotional campaigns
- Oversees development and production of promotional and collateral materials
- Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets
- Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions
- Conducts marketing surveys on current and new directions for communications
- Establishes and maintains a consistent image throughout all design of promotional materials
- Provides regular updates to directors on communications efforts
- Works collaboratively with department team, including Director of Programming, Director of New Initiatives, Director of Institutional Advancement, and the Executive Director
- Attends conferences and networking opportunities that explore cutting edge marketing and advertising initiatives
- Determines overall staffing for communications and marketing area, in collaboration with Executive Director and Director of People and Culture.
- Directly supervises all employees of the Communications/Marketing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Omega Institute's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees within the Communications/Marketing Department; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
