WWF-Canada has a record of achieving tremendous accomplishments, including doubling Canadas protected wilderness. We are now working to secure conservation victories on an unprecedented scale, making this is an incredibly exciting period at WWF.

Duties:

WWF requires a strong leader to provide strategic communications direction to build our effectiveness in engaging our key audiences and delivering results. Working in the Conservation Advancement Department, reporting to the Vice President, Conservation Advancement, the successful candidate will:

  • Manage, integrate and motivate the communications team, with responsibilities for conservation program communications, education, on-line and corporate communications.
  • Develop and implement communications campaigns for our conservation programs
  • Oversee WWFs Schools for Wildlife education program, which reaches nearly 6,000 classrooms
  • Oversee Corporate Communications functions including the annual report, WWF logo guidelines and photo/video resources
  • Maximize WWFs on-line presence and effectiveness to educate, inspire and raise funds

Qualifications:

  • A dynamic person who understands issues management, and is well-rounded in internal and external communications activities is required
  • University degree
  • 7+ years work experience in corporate communications, issues management, campaigning or government relations
  • Excellent team leader, motivator and manager
  • Understands and appreciates the importance and urgency of WWFs work
  • Able to provide strategic communications direction on conservation issues
  • Develop creative and innovative plans and tactics
  • Build and leverage strong relationships with staff, media and key stakeholders including government, industry and local communities
