The College of Lake County is a large diverse district serving the third largest population in the Illinois community college system with 713,000 residents. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association, the college has a diverse student body of over 18,000 students. The college spans 442 square miles of Lake County with 75 inland lakes and is located halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee. The college is known for its excellent programs, services, and participation in community problem-solving efforts.

Position Overview:

In this high visibility leadership role, you will develop and deliver programs and services designed to prepare both individuals and businesses for operating within a "Green Economy." The Director will work in collaboration with CLC faculty and staff, the Sustainability Coordinator, local/state government agencies, not-for-profits, members of the Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN), and other agencies and organizations engaged in energy efficiency and conservation efforts. This includes developing actions/tracking progress of Lake County preparedness for a well educated workforce to support sustainable businesses and industries.

(Grant/Externally Funded) *Continued employment in this position is contingent upon continued external funding.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies or related field.
  • Community college, not-for-profit, or corporate experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing new curriculum and educational programming.
  • Highly developed and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills as demonstrated by work experience.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally.
