EnerNOC, Inc. is a leading developer and provider of clean and intelligent energy solutions to commercial, institutional, and industrial customers, as well as electric power grid operators and utilities. Our technology-enabled demand response and energy management solutions help optimize the balance of electric supply and demand.
EnerNOC has an immediate need for a Director of Energy Markets to oversee its activities in the demand response capacity and energy markets.
The Energy Markets group supports EnerNOC's mission through market research and analysis, optimization of program participation, and execution of core operational tasks such as contract management, demand response program implementation and compliance, and customer relationship management. In addition, all members of the Operations team support the demand response event management process when such activations are initiated.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Energy Markets will lead a team of 10-20 market specialists and associates who focus on individual markets in which EnerNOC participates.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Optimizing value of demand response resources in all of EnerNOC's markets
- Managing risk associated with market participation and bilateral agreements
- Formulating and tracking Service Level Agreement metrics
- Building process around Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements
- Managing the team's P&L statement and working with Finance to ensure the accurate and timely recognition of revenue and costs
- Supporting the Executive and Finance teams with forecasting and long-range planning activities
- Leading the development of new product offerings that leverage EnerNOC's physical assets
- Coordinating with Event Management group to ensure effective adoption of program rules, performance calculations, etc.
- Supporting Marketing and Business Development teams through analysis and presentations
- Representing EnerNOC at relevant ISO/Stakeholder working group and industry conferences
- Advising senior management on current and new market opportunities
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
- 5+ years experience in the energy/electricity industry
- Expert knowledge of financial, capacity, and energy markets
- MBA, CPA, or other advanced degree
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional analytical ability
- Knowledge of standard accounting practices
- Creativity, entrepreneurial drive
- Strong customer relations skills
- Experience managing 10+ individuals
