The State of Missouri is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual for this cabinet level position in the department that works to protect, preserve and enhance the state's natural, cultural and energy resources.

Responsibilities:

A major responsibility of the Director is developing a natural resource vision for the State of Missouri and successfully implementing strategic plans and programs that accomplish that vision through effective communication with the legislature and the citizens of Missouri. The Director has overall leadership and administration of the Department with primary responsibilities that:

  • Involves the critical area of energy,
  • Protects Missouri's land, air and water resources,
  • Preserves the state's historic and natural heritage (state parks and state historic sites),
  • Develops mineral resources in an environmentally safe manner.

This includes the management of the Division of Environmental Quality, Division of State Parks, Division of Geology and Land Survey, Division of Energy, Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority and Water Resources Center.

Qualifications: 

Qualified applicants should have:

  • 5+ years experience managing a large, complex organization
  • The ability to manage significant financial resources
  • A track record of successful leadership preferably in the area of natural resources and the environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization and proven experience in organizing and leading teams toward a defined outcome
  • Advanced degree preferred

Compensation: The State of Missouri offers a competitive salary and an excellent fringe benefits package including paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, paid retirement (defined benefit), deferred compensation, and cafeteria plan. Relocation expenses apply according to state policy.
