Summary:
The successful candidate will have previous development experience in a non-profit organization, including budgeting, annual giving and other individual giving strategies. Strong writing and organizational skills with attention to detail are essential for this position. Responsibilities include day-to-day management of the annual fund function including appeal mailings, donor acknowledgements, gift clubs, regional donor events, preparing monthly and annual reports, donor communications, and database management. This position will also coordinate closely with the Director of Major Gifts to ensure cultivation of all donors to the next level of giving.,
Duties:
Working with a Development Assistant, responsibilities include:
- Assess overall approach to annual giving; refine and implement strategies and systems to increase revenues from all individual supporters
- Work with marketing, membership and data management teams to integrate an increasingly personalized approach to 15,000 member/supporters
- Provide guidance to development assistant on all aspects of annual giving (direct mail appeals, memorial appeals, gift entry and acknowledgement)
- Develop, maintain, and improve internal database systems to track all donors, pledges, proposals, and required reports; generate donor lists for annual reports and other publications
- Prepare Annual Report and donor lists
- Prepare monthly revenue report for VP Development
- Provide development input for Earthwatch Institute supporter journal, web site and other vehicles that communicate to external audiences
- Work with Major Gifts Director on donor events and Board hosted dinners involving donor prospects.
- Assist with Annual Conference as part of the Development team
Qualifications:
College graduate with 7 plus years of development experience in one or more non-profit organizations; Experience with individual giving and annual funds essential; Excellent writer; Strong organizational and communication skills and attention to detail; Strong computer skills, especially spreadsheets and Word; Commitment to Earthwatch Institute mission and ability to engage others with it.
