Biodiversity Project is a Madison, Wisconsin- based non-profit which since 1995 has developed cutting edge communications and messaging strategies to help environmental organizations more effectively communicate to the public about biodiversity and a wide range of other environmental issues.
The organization maintains a unique niche by putting into practice values-based communications strategies and theories developed from scientific polling, research and evaluation. (An example of a current collaborative project can be viewed at www.greatlakesforever.org.) Under the leadership of a new Executive Director the organization is now expanding its operations and its funding base. The Development Program Manager will be a key partner in this effort.
The Development Program Manager:
*Reports to Executive Director (who also serves as the Development Director)
*Will create broad development plan with special focus on cultivating major donors and family foundations.
Tasks include:
- create template for finding and recruiting new donors
- design and create resource materials
- develop and maintain interactive database
- oversee, train, and direct research to be conducted by intern(s)
- develop information and background briefing papers on prospects
- prepare executive director and/or board members for meetings with prospects
- participate in face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors
- work with all staff members to interface fundraising and program activities
- ensure that all donors are properly thanked and kept informed
- work with BP program directors to procure grant funding for programs and projects.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have: at least 5 years of development experience within the community of environmental philanthropists, and a proven track record in individual, family foundation, and corporate donor development; grant writing skills; strong planning skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; ability to work well with a team; superior written and oral communications and presentation skills; strong database and word processing skills; bachelor's or higher degree. This position requires working in Madison, Wisconsin.
