Rockwood is a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization that provides individuals, organizations and networks in the social benefit sector with powerful and effective training in leadership and collaboration. Each year Rockwood delivers its programs to more than 300 national leaders working in important grassroots and policy reform sectors that help improve the well-being of our communities and world.
Position Overview:
The Development Manager will be responsible for fundraising efforts of the Rockwood Leadership Institute, in close collaboration with the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships and the President. Activities will include driving the production and completion of written reports (in conjunction with other program staff); proposal writing; growing Rockwood's major donor program including writing direct mail and electronic solicitations; and assisting in occasional donor events.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the production and completion of written foundation reports (with program staff)
- Help to write, edit and deliver proposals to foundations (with the Director of Philanthropic Partnerships and President)
- Manage grant proposal and reporting calendars, including maintaining databases and files
- Write and direct campaigns for twice-yearly donor appeals and online donation initiatives
- Manage grant agreements and donor acknowledgement systems
- Occasional assistance with implementing small donor parties and receptions
- Occasional assistance with scheduling meetings between President and other senior team leaders with foundations or donors
Qualifications:
Required:
- Approximately 4 years of experience as a nonprofit fundraiser
- B.A. degree
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Self motivated and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with PC computers and databases (preferably Salesforce)
Preferred:
- Demonstrated interest pursuing Development as a career
- Passion for social change
- Some familiarity with social change foundations and donors, as well as grassroots fundraising strategies
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and 401K plan. 4 day (32-hour) work week.
