Internships at the Center
Internships with stipends are available at full time for 6 to 12 month terms, beginning in the fall, spring, and summer. A few shorter, summer internships are available as well as unpaid internships and internships for credit. Interns help the Center fulfill its mission of working with individuals, communities, and institutions to establish sustainable practices that will ensure a healthy planet for future generations. Interns are expected to have an interest, knowledge, and/or experience in issues related to sustainable consumption, the environment, or social justice.
Applicants are also expected to have a sense of humor, integrity, and subscribe to our philosophy of "more fun, less stuff." In general, college graduates are preferred. Each intern will have some general administrative responsibilities--no more than 1/3 of time spent in the office--but will work largely in their respective area of assignment. A full work- week at the Center is 32 hours. Interns working 32 hours per week receive a stipend of $1000 per month. Students are invited to intern for 16 hours/week in the fall or spring for college credit.

Development Intern
The Center seeks an intern to work with our Development Director to maintain a sound base of financial support for our work. This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with accomplished fund raising professionals in a highly successful development program of a national non-profit. While contributing to our mission, the Development Intern will be exposed to the fundamental processes of fund raising work and will have the opportunity to hone skills and abilities important to development work.
Responsibilities include:
*
conducting research on foundations and major donors
*helping maintain a donor care program
*assisting with celebrity outreach
* updating donor materials
*benchmarking other organizations
* helping organize fund raising events
* writing development communications
*helping maintain donor relations.
About 30% of this position would involve general layout, graphic design, and desk-top publishing.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, great on the phone, can write well, and is comfortable with a database. Preferably, he or she will also have experience with and a knack for desk-top publishing and graphic design.
