Located in the rolling fields, farms, and forests of south central Michigan, The Dahlem Conservancy is a new organization with a 30+ year history of providing area residents with environmental education services. Our primary objective is managing the John and Mary Dahlem Environmental Education Center. The secondary objective is the protection of land through conservancy tools and programs.
Position Summary:
The Development Coordinator is the lead position in building a long term sustainable future for the organization, holding a vital role that directly impacts our success. The Development Coordinator will drive implementation of the fundraising system by coordinating a volunteer committee of 2 staff, 2 Board members, and 3 community members. We are committed to building a larger base of people who share the mission of The Dahlem Conservancy and are interested in helping us reach our collective goals.
Specific Responsibilities:
Attend the Benevon training workshop (Chicago in October) with the Board's Fundraising Committee / Team. Coordinate and implement The Dahlem Conservancy's annual fundraising plan and timeline. Keep the team on task and on schedule. Ensure that all data is captured in the database tracking system. Take on personally and/or delegate all tasks needed to fulfill each element of the fundraising plan according to the agreed-upon timeline, including: introductory events, follow-up with event guests, cultivations, ask events, and more follow-up with multiple-year giving donors.
Additionally, and based upon the time requirements of the above mentions duties, the Development Coordinator will also be involved in: annual fund drive, business campaign, endowment giving, major gifts solicitation, membership development, and grant writing.

We are looking for someone who is courteous, sensitive, and understanding; works hard; possesses a positive temperament; is attentive to details; articulate; confident; and cares about conservation of natural resources and the role of education.
Bachelor's degree, absolute minimum 7 years professional work experience, and a successful track record in some form of fundraising is preferred.
Salary / Benefits: Approximately half-time position - $20-26,000, with retirement.
