Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) is an educational program which supports the revival of Cambodian traditional art forms and inspires contemporary artistic expression. Based in Cambodia, Cambodian Living Arts is a program of the Marion Institute in Marion, MA. It offers teaching, performance and recording opportunities to young Cambodians and developing professional artists alike, and commissions new works. These programs are reconnecting Cambodia's youth with their cultural traditions and creating a new, positive identity for a war-ravaged nation.

Position Overview:

As Cambodian Living Arts' only US-based employee, the Development Coordinator will support the program's development activities and serve as on-site liaison in all administrative matters between Cambodian Living Arts and the Marion Institute. The successful candidate will travel to Cambodia approximately once a year to work with colleagues there and understand current programming.

Reports to: Marion Institute Executive Director in the USA, and to Cambodian Living Arts Development Manager in Cambodia

Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising:

Assist coordinating annual fundraising campaign

  • Work with development manager to create cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Assist the development manager and development committee on monitoring asks, pledges and other campaign activity, and send reminders as needed
  • Track all donor contacts in donor data, produce reports from database, assist on following the donor matrix, worksheets, and other tools to support campaign planning and monitoring
  • Coordinate board members' and visiting staffs' schedule of solicitations, cultivation, and visits
  • Help create proposals, reports, and other solicitation material
  • Grant reporting for CLA grants

Coordinate interns, donor volunteers, and board members to organize small-scale cultivation events or fundraisers in the US

  • Help screen potential intern or volunteer candidates, develop intern/volunteer contracts, and coordinate intern activities regarding fundraising with Marion Institute or Cambodia office
  • Help strategize and plan special events, including helping to coordinate with the volunteers, as needed, follow-up solicitation letters, publicity, special media, entertainment, etc.
  • Facilitate communication between US-based donors/volunteers and CLA board and staff  

Manage semi-annual direct mail campaign

  • Develop semi-annual appeal letters and other solicitation material for 2 groups, major donors and Friends of CLA
  • Coordinate board members to arrange personalized solicitations/thank you's through mail
  • Coordinate stuffing/sending/mailing appeals through in-house mailing or through mailing house

Research corporate and foundation giving sources

  • Research possible funding sources from corporations and foundations, determining what may be feasible, where good fits may be, determining giving guidelines, needs, etc.
  • Seek foundation contacts through Board members, Marion contacts, etc.

2. Communications:

  • Coordinate with Development Manager on creation and distribution of solicitation/cultivation material, including brochures, short films, photographs, pledge cards, etc. through mail, internet, or other means

3. Administrative/Financial/Other Work (Marion work):

  • Support Executive director to organize board meetings and committee meetings in the US
  • Monitor monthly expenditures and income, monitor campaign targets, cash flow
  • Review donation processing, stock gifts, etc. provided by MI
  • Manage CLA donor database
  • Ensure that all CLA staff, board, volunteers, etc. adhere to proper MI procedures and policies
  • Coordinate processing of invoices, payments, etc. with MI Finance staff
  • Assist with MI financials - review receipts
  • Financial liaison between MI & CLA
  • Participate in MI events, fundraisers, staff meetings, on an as needed basis
  • MI website & FaceBook - keep CLA pages up to date
  • Work closely with the Development Manager in Cambodia - weekly updates, etc.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS
  • 3-5 years of work experience
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Email and database)
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Background or interest in the Arts and different cultures

Compensation: $27-30K/year
