We are a non-profit organization, founded in 1918, who has assisted in permanently protecting hundreds of thousands of acres of redwood forestland. The League and its programs have enjoyed robust growth and now need the support of a additional talented Development support staff. Position Overview:

Imagine applying your fabulous people skills, administration and organization talents amongst bright, dedicated and passionate people: both members and staff. The Development Associate coordinates exciting and informative membership/donor events and supports a dynamic development department providing administrative assistance for the Director of Development, Major & Planned Gifts Officer and for the overall development operations.

Responsibilities:

Event Production:

  • Collaborates with the Director of Development and the Director of Major and Planned Gifts to develop event strategies
  • Creates and follows event budgets and timelines
  • Plans the event by identifying and booking facilities, food, equipment and speakers and manages contract details and routing
  • Supports development of corporate sponsorships through informative, engaging communications
  • Represents the League in interactions/planning with vendors, corporate sponsors, volunteers and event participants
  • Coordinates event promotion and marketing interfacing with members of the Outreach and Development Departments
  • Serves as the main contact for event attendee information and ensures event runs smoothly
  • Coordinates, prepares and manages all event data using the Raiser's Edge; Tracks invitations, attendance, and follows up.
  • Prepares and analyzes event reports for pre and post event gift and attendance statistics, including payment and donation records
  • Maintains and updates individual donor records to facilitate event follow up and stewardship activities
  • Conducts event appraisals to debrief, evaluate and determine success

Donor Support and Education:

  • Assists with matching individual donor interests to various League programs and aids in communications: written, emails, mail, conversations and introductions
  • Helps to ensure people who are like minded and passionate about our mission are included and informed

Fundraising Operations:

  • Provides support to the Director of Development and the Major Gifts team in the fulfillment of departmental duties, including budget preparation, meeting coordination and file maintenance
  • Drafts donor correspondence, prepares meeting materials, provides reports, creates presentations, manages contract routing, and takes and prepares meeting minutes

Qualifications:

  • Personal passion for preserving and protecting the natural world with a belief in the mission, principles, and values of Save-the-Redwoods League's approach to conservation
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable experience
  • Minimum 3 years progressively responsible event coordination and development experience
  • Creative with experience developing and implementing multiple event programs
  • Ability to establish and monitor priorities, maintain flexibility, and meet deadlines
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or equivalent data base system
  • Experience with event management software, especially Raiser's Edge Event Module, preferred
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Basic desktop publishing ability using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or similar software application
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision
  • Magnificent customer service (especially phone) experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Demonstrated writing skills
  • Experience working with high level volunteers and donors, preferred
  • Able to work at evening events, upon occasion
