Description
We are a grassroots conservation group looking for a friendly, detail-oriented person to support our members, manage our major donor program, and organize events. The Western Slope Environmental Resource Council is a moderate conservation group that seeks to work constructively with citizens, local government, industry, and agriculture to maintain quality of life in Delta County. We are located in the Western foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the rural town of Paonia.
Responsibilities
Duties include meeting with people to request financial support, organizing meetings and educational events, writing press releases and action alerts, developing budgets, maintaining a membership database, and acting as staff support for the development committee. The coordinator will interact frequently with board members and regular members and work closely with other conservation groups.
Qualifications
Skills required include familiarity with office computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel, excellent writing and public speaking skills, ability to understand complex issues and explain them clearly to the public, and ability to drive.
The coordinator is expected to work well with people from a variety of economic and political backgrounds, find practical solutions to complex problems, juggle multiple tasks, and work under deadline pressure. The coordinator must be comfortable with cold calling, talking with public officials, and must be able to inspire volunteers to work together on community projects. Familiarity with environmental issues is a plus.
Compensation
Salary in the low to mid-$20,000's, dependent on experience. Health benefits are included. The position requires occasional work on evenings and weekends.
