Smith Carter has an opening in our Winnipeg office for a designer who is passionate about design, has a strong sense of accountability, possesses superior collaboration skills and demonstrates a learning mindset. Our work includes large scale projects in various markets including Science and Technology, Security and Defence, Healthcare and Urban Impact. Our designers participate in all aspects of a project in a team environment - from concept design to contract administration ensuring the quality of design meets or clients needs.

Our design philosophy embraces ecologically responsible buildings and undertakes projects using an integrated design process. Our reputation for sustainable architecture and energy efficiency has differentiated us from other firms. The new SC3 - Smith Carter workplace, was awarded a 2006 Governor General's Medal and in August of 2009 became the first LEED "Platinum" certified building in Manitoba.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Architectural design tasks with contributions to solutions in a team setting from concept development through construction documentation
  • Assists on larger projects or leads smaller ones in coordination and collaboration with other disciplines to develop designs in an integrated team process
  • Works under the direction and supervision of more senior design personnel on complex projects
  • Works independently on smaller projects
  • Coordinates with client representative and other team members to achieve client's goals while adhering to the projects design intent

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture
  • 5 to 10 years of architectural design experience in institutional project typologies
  • Demonstrate strong skills in creative and thorough design solutions
  • Demonstrated experience/ability to successfully meet client program, design, quality, cost and schedule requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in AutoCAD 2009, Revit, Photoshop and 3D modeling software such as 3D Studio
  • Ability to effectively work in a team atmosphere
  • PWGSC Security Clearance will be required as a condition of employment.
