Position Overview:
The Deputy Wind Facility Manager reports to the Wind Facility Manager in the Wind Operations Organization and will work as part of a team to assure the facility operates with the highest Safety, Health and Environmental standards while achieving maximum performance and profitability. The Facility Manager will be responsible for Federal, State and Local regulatory compliance, plant performance monitoring, training and operational support.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct, plan and coordinate power plant operations, including maximizing plant profits and minimizing expenses.
- Maintain regulatory compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations and associated permits. This includes all applicable safety, health and environmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with and optimization of plant contractual obligations.
- Work with Plant Manager to coordinate activities and interaction with scheduling, marketing and local utilities to ensure economic dispatch of facility is achieved.
- Manage site O&M budget.
- Implement, manage, update and maintain plant procedures, site policies, training programs, safety programs and work practices.
- Monitor plant performance, investigate and correct abnormal conditions.
- Direct and coordinate operations and maintenance activities of the power plant.
- Propose, evaluate and implement equipment and system improvements.
* Negotiate and administer 3rd party contracts.
* Administer warranties.
* Manage warehouse personnel and parts program.
* Review and approve root cause analyses of major failures. - Ensure all relevant internal controls are followed and develops new controls as needed.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to assure quality support for customers and field personnel.
- Develop and implement training programs and maintains a consistent program within the company standards.
- Manage on site subcontractors and coordinate subcontractor activities.
- Manage the hiring and training of all plant personnel.
- Assure a positive working environment by maintaining discipline, morale, and employee relations.
- Evaluate and implement commercial (contractual, taxes, etc.) initiatives designed to improve the overall economics for the assets while working closely with asset managers.
* Maintain ability and awareness to work safely in a variety of conditions. Responsible for the oversight of those under his/her direction. Monitor and instruct staff regarding safe work habits in all activities. Caution others, as necessary, in working in a safe manner.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Deputy Facility Manager, applicants must have:
- 2 years college or trade school with degree (AA) or equivalent related knowledge and experience in all phases of site operations, budgeting, maintenance and turbine repair with excellent wind turbine operating knowledge including control, mechanical and hydraulic systems. Preference is for candidates with a 4 year Bachelors Degree (BS) or equivalent related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in power plant operations and maintenance.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to climb 80 meter steel towers on a daily basis to perform maintenance tasks in the nacelle and hub. The maximum weight allowed for candidates is 265 Lbs, due to limitations of associated climbing safety equipment.
- Advanced computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management and reporting systems. Including the use of computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
- Comprehensive writing skills to meet contractual reporting obligations.
- Ability to work in extremely adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to work around low and medium voltage.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
- Ability to work with general directives and may work at a computer monitor or sitting position for up to 6 hours per day.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications, the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in high voltage maintenance and switching.
- Experience establishing and improving preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity and operating experience with SCADA systems.
